31 Miles for Nature

I’m moving 31 Miles for Nature to raise £400 for Greenpeace - can you sponsor me?

Our favourite places in nature are under threat from climate change, habitat loss and pollution. We need to act now to save them. That's why I've decided to move 31 Miles for Nature this October and raise £400 for Greenpeace.

With a fifty year history of defending nature, Greenpeace's mission is to create a greener, healthier, and more peaceful planet. Any donation you make could help power their campaigns to keep our oceans healthy, our forests standing, and fossil fuels in the ground.

Greenpeace never accepts money from companies or governments, so they depend on supporters, like us, to fund all of their campaigns.

Please sponsor me today and help me reach my £400 goal. Thank you!

My Updates

Good Days And Bad Days

Wednesday 17th Sep
I've found out that whatever it was in my brain that snapped after all the stresses of the last few months needs space to heal. Tasks that I would have sailed through whilst doing 17 other things at the same time are causing me all manner of anxiety. I can't hold as many thoughts at the same time, somehow.

As a result, one day at my computer requires 3-5 business days recovery time!

To give my brain the space it needs, I've been doing some lovely stretchy yoga. And, of course, getting out into the world.

All this lovely movement (thank you for the nudge Greenpeace) coupled with all the wonder of Oxfordshire nature (thank you The Earth - and also M-i-L Sue for the house) has made a huge difference.

Even better, my hip is much improved! So I've even managed a couple of runs in between my walks in the locality. Running is of course a natural - and completely free - anti-depressant, so yes please to that. (See pic of me in my Greenpeace t-shirt!)

There are still days where I'm inexplicably zonked and can't do more than flop about. If I can keep up a 1 mile a day though, it's got to be good for me.

And of course, THE PLANET!

So a huge, huge thank you to those of you who have sponsored me so far. I love and appreciate you ALL.

The page is still open for donations if you haven't - and want to. Again, even the smallest amount is brilliant.

Hugs all round
Anne xx

Additional Boost for Mental Health

Thursday 4th Sep
In the time between signing up for this challenge (when we arrived back in the UK) and now, I've fallen of a bit of a cliff, mentally speaking. The stress of the move and all admin associated with THAT was enough, but I've timed things rather beautifully to coincide with my levels of oestrogen dropping through the floor.

Crippling anxiety - tick, all the usual hot sweats - yup, curious changes in my hearing - pardon? - indecision, oh, and loss of vocabulary - yes. Given that a lot of what I do is tied up with writing, that's been particularly frustrating.

Bundle that all the above with negligible levels of energy,  bouts weeping at nothing in particular, low mood and a general crisis of confidence, well, of COURSE I was signed off work.

So getting out for a mile a day is not only good for climate (sponsor me please!) but also ME.

My bike is in Bulgaria. I am in Oxfordshire. But by the time the challenge comes around we'll be in Watford.

So I'll be using feet. Mainly walking, but if my hip improves (that's not been right since April - don't get me started on that) I'm hoping to be able to run some of it as well!

I've been getting in training over the past copule of weeks - this pic is just a taste of the 4 mile walk we did around Charlbury last weekend.

I know, glorious isn't it? So please do support me in supporting Greeenpeace do more things to help stop - or at least slow down - the climate crisis.

Even if it's just a couple of quid, every little helps! I - and the planet - really appreciate it.

With love,
Anne
