31 Miles for Nature

I’m moving 31 Miles for Nature to raise £150 for Greenpeace - can you sponsor me?

Our favourite places in nature are under threat from climate change, habitat loss and pollution. We need to act now to save them. That's why I've decided to move 31 Miles for Nature this October and raise £150 for Greenpeace.

With a fifty year history of defending nature, Greenpeace's mission is to create a greener, healthier, and more peaceful planet. Any donation you make could help power their campaigns to keep our oceans healthy, our forests standing, and fossil fuels in the ground.

Greenpeace never accepts money from companies or governments, so they depend on supporters, like us, to fund all of their campaigns.

Please sponsor me today and help me reach my £150 goal. Thank you!

My Updates

Back on track....

Sunday 17th Aug
After and during the devastating loss of my lovely Daisy dog I didn't get very far with my challenge. However, my Berry is able and willing so we have been running together and are enjoying the health benefits already. I am only £15 off my fundraising goal, so I must keep going! Hopefully I can raise more and maybe exceed my 100 miles goal!!

We need to look after our planet. I have heard some climate change deniers recently saying that the planet has always been changing. This does not give us permission to ruin the Earth we live on. Buddhism asks us to live lightly on the earth and leave no trace. Christianity suggests that we are God's gardeners, implying that we should help the world to thrive rather than covering it completely with plastic waste, draining its resources and altering its future abundance. I haven't looked into other religious stances, but I am sure there will be some sensible ideas. I love our world and the nature that surrounds us. Thank you Greenpeace for helping to protect it's fragility.

Running with one of my besties

Sunday 27th Jul
Poor Daisy preferred to stay at home with my son today (my beautiful labradoodle has a trapped nerve) but her sister accepted coming with me without her for the first time. We had a lovely time running around the fields near the railway minutes from home. Berry made some new friends on the way and at 13 and a half managed to have a little sprint towards the end and following a refreshing drink and paddle in the stream. Tomorrow I hope to run with both of my girls!

First activity

Thursday 24th Jul
So, inspired my my wonderful nephew who is running a half marathon every month this year, and my sister who ran alongside me at race for life last weekend, I have signed up to help protect the natural world in which we live.

I am not very high-tec and may not ever get around to using an app. However I did run my first two miles since committing to the challenge  today. Some distances may be approximate and the number of steps unrecorded. Tomorrow I will receive a dog stroller. I hope to be able to push my poorly 13 and a half year old labradoodle whilst running with the other beside me but we will see. I am still investigating where I can go to swim any distance locally. Maybe I just need to go to the sea!! Wish me luck folks!! and do sponsor me!!

Outdoors

Tuesday 22nd Jul
I intend to complete my fitness challenge outdoors and surrounded by nature. I have committed to covering one hundred miles outdoors, through a mixture of running and wild swimming. This is quite a challenge as I am unsure how I can work out outdoor swimming miles and time is an issue in my busy life. However, I feel that this challenge will strengthen my connection to nature and its role in our emotional as well as physical health. Let's see how it goes and where it takes me!!
