31 Miles for Nature

I’m moving 31 Miles for Nature to raise £150 for Greenpeace - can you sponsor me?

Our favourite places in nature are under threat from climate change, habitat loss and pollution. We need to act now to save them. That's why I've decided to move 31 Miles for Nature this October and raise £150 for Greenpeace.

With a fifty year history of defending nature, Greenpeace's mission is to create a greener, healthier, and more peaceful planet. Any donation you make could help power their campaigns to keep our oceans healthy, our forests standing, and fossil fuels in the ground.

Greenpeace never accepts money from companies or governments, so they depend on supporters, like us, to fund all of their campaigns.

Please sponsor me today and help me reach my £150 goal. Thank you!

My Updates

Wow just wow!

Friday 24th Oct
What an incredible 24 days....I got back at 2pm from another 62 miles on my bicycle..
Considering how pessimistic the forecast was i got my van packed to head out of the hills in north east wales to park up by the river Dee to start out on the greenaway cycle routes...just about to drive off at 8am when ''Eek!" Remembered my van was due in for a service this morning...
So headed down into Mold to drop off the van and get set up  with all the layers for then 6°....I was keeping away from hills since I returned to cycling a month ago after a 2½ year lay off...

Anyway off out over the hills and down to Queensferry, Shotton, up the Wirral to Neston, eventually temporarily reconnecting with my outward route over to West Cheshire. My first stop and breakfast at Meadow Lea Farm Cafe (where i realised i'd hit £884)...before heading through Chester on a zig zag route taking me back along the river to Flint and back up a long hill to Mold....a brilliant ride....and not a drop of rain 🤷‍♂️
I'm so happy with the incredible sponsorship.....it'll be over a £by the time I finish.....And a big AND im so glad a) this challenge was put up for October by Greenpeace and that i in part signed to use it to get fitter and help me get through this low point....best thing I've done in 10 years (when because seriously physically ill)....i've returned to outdoors life and long may it last!

On the Mental health bit; I am getting better bit by bit.

Thank you all for being so inspirational.
Collectively we're doing really great!

Blessings John 🙏🏻

Bigger ride than my anticipated 30 miles

Thursday 9th Oct
Cracking ride today....I felt sluggish this morning intending 30miles and 9am start.

Foggy headed procrastination meant I started just before noon....
Down the hill out of Wales, along the river Dee through Chester to Mickle Traffords Meadow Lea Farm Cafe for vegan brunch and coffee...then retraced to Chester picking up the old rail line through Deeside on the Welsh border and up the Wirral to West Kirkby on another old rail track the Wirral way....a wander and a break and then return via The Harp Inn, little Neston for a shandy and back up hill into Wales. Crawled up that final hill...I was beat but happy. Oh yes 75miles! Phew! All my pedal power on an 12 year old racer.

I was pleased to get out today to show willing and gratitude for my sponsorship so far, but also for my trying my hardest to beat this low spell of the last few weeks.
And get fitter again...

All good and thank you Greenpeace for running this 31 days fund raising event...perfect timing.

Cheers John Cranwell

Inspired help nature, whilst helping me

Friday 3rd Oct
Dear everyone
Raising some funds for good causes has resonated with me for a long time...every year I donate a sum of money to various good causes.
But this time its a little different...nature always needs support, more so than ever.
I'm just asking for a little funding in return for me taking up this challenge of 31 miles for nature....a minimum of a mile per day.
The added element is i'm doing it for me...health last year wasn't brilliant and there a few things that i'm waiting to be actioned....all this has meant my fitness had totally crashed and my mental health quickly followed it....particularly the last few weeks have been foggy...that's why i'm late getting my bio and photo up here.
I'm either walking of cycling each day, 4 - 20'ish miles each day to help me normalise getting out, getting fitter again. I've missed it but got stuck motivating myself...it will also help distancing periods of depression....I want to and am trying to push it back!

Thank you for reading my bio, my message where i'm at and what I'm trying to do.

If you feel for it, then please donate to my page...you've got the entire month of October to donate. I'll concentrate on getting myself out there.

Thank you, blessings 🙏🏻 and love ❤️
