I’m taking on Greenpeace's 25 Mile Challenge - can you support me?

I’m taking part in the 25 Mile Challenge this October, joining hundreds of people to raise money for Greenpeace, helping to protect this beautiful planet we call home. It would mean a lot if you could support me with a donation.

Your donation will help Greenpeace to fight the climate and nature emergencies, and to protect our world for people and animals today, as well as for future generations. If we all work together we can defend forests, protect oceans, fight climate change and make a brighter future possible!

Living close to Northumberland's coastline my contribution will be themed around Ocean Protection. I will post details about my plan and progress in the blog on this page.

Note:

Greenpeace never accepts money from companies or governments, so they depend on supporters, like us, to fund all of their campaigns.

The Plan

Saturday 7th Sep
This is the first time for me to fund raise for Greenpeace with an activity and the 25 mile challenge seems a good start.

Being the Ocean guy in my local group (rather learning than knowledgeable)  my plan is walking the beautiful Northumberland coast from Amble to Tynemouth.

Now, walking a few miles on and off during October may get me to 25 miles but won't be much of a challenge. Completing a 25 - 30 mile walk on a weekend comes closer and still promises to be fun.

I tried a one day walk from Amble to Ashington in August and got to 15-16 miles after a few unintended detours. October may not lend itself to the barefoot beach walk I did then, but who knows.

Starting in Amble I will make my way to Newbiggin along the coast and complete it in the Dolphin in Tynemouth, a pub my father visited.

If you live in the area I would be very grateful for advice on avoiding roads around Blyth.
